Going Gray
Prologue- The Ocean
I was in a shark infested ocean and I was drowning. The air was tense, electric. The slightest movement could send everything into a blood frenzy.
I looked from one set of eyes, slowly to the other. They were both the eyes of wild, feral creatures awaiting their moment to strike the other down.
Finally, my mother broke the silence.
"If you want to act like that, then you can get your shit and kick rocks."
The room tensed more, giving me the feeling that everything-every muscle, every fiber-was overstretched and would soon snap. I felt like we would all be destroyed by it repercussion.
The tall dark man at the other side of the table stood up, his eyes glinting dangerously. It felt like a band was around my chest, crushing my lungs as we awaited his next move.
"I'll leave when I'm good and ready," he replied coldly.
Yes, I was in a deep, dark ocean. My raft was small, and it was full of sharks. I was drowning.
